| Background Principal Names: Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, member 8 (TNFRSF8); Ki-1; CD30L receptor; D1S166E; Lymphocyte activation antigen CD30; Official Gene Symbol: TNFRSF8 Gene ID: 943 (Human) Gene Map Locus: 1p36 (Human) CD30, a 120KDa Type I transmembrane glycoprotein, is a member of TNF-R superfamily. It consists of extracellular Cystein-rich domains, a transmembrane domain and a C-terminal cytoplasmic domain. It is mainly expressed in activated T and B lymphocytes and exists as a membrane bound form and soluble form. It binds to CD30L and also to several TRAF family members including TRAF-1, TRAF-2, TRAF-3, CRAF-1 and TRAF-5 mediating NF-kappaB activation. Physiological functions of CD30 include T-cell activation and proliferation, mediating apoptosis and activation-induced cell death of autoreactive CD8+ cells and protect the body against autoimmunity. Pathological role of CD30 has been implicated in Hodgkin’s and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, HIV, Germ-cell tumors, Rheumatoid arthritis and atopic dermatitis. |
Antigen BALB/C mice were immunized with L428 cell line.
| Application Notes We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at room temperature. However, depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed, optimal incubation should be determined by the user. This antibody is not suitable for fixed paraffin sections. It is recommended only for frozen sections. Specificity: This antibody reacts with a molecule consisting of two polypeptide chains of 105 and 120 kD. This antibody stains Hodgkin's and Reed-Sternberg cells and the cells of the majority of anaplastic large cell lymphomas. Cellular Localization: Cell membrane. |
