Background PKD is a member of the protein kinase C (PKC) family functioning in many extracellular receptor-mediated signal transduction pathways. PKD differs from PKC isozymes by an acidic domain, a pleckstrin homology domain within the regulatory region and the lack of a typical pseudosubstrate site. PKD is responsible for the triggering of Golgi-mediated transport processes and for the maintenance of Golgi stacks architecture. PKD also participates in the control of keratinocyte proliferation to counteract TNF-induced apoptosis in HeLa cells. PKD is also involved breast cancer by triggering cellular adhesion processes. Human PKD gene is mapped to chromosomal region 14q11. |
Antigen This antibody was generated by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic non-phosphopeptide corresponding to human PKD/PKCµ around the phosphorylation site of serine 738 (E-K-SP-F-R).
