EGTA is a common laboratory reagent because it exclusively chelates Calcium ions. EGTA can significantly reduce the adhering ability of certain cells. When coupled with Calcium, the buffer can be used for the calibration of probes that detect intracellular free Calcium ions.

This EGTA solution is of 0.5M concentration and pH 8.0. It has been sterilized for direct use in cell culture. We also carry an RNase and DNase Free version of the same buffer for delicate genetic applications.
