Description

trans-β-Terpineol is a cyclic monoterpene alcohol present in Greek propolis and the essential oil of Peganum harmala seeds, with biological activities. trans-β-Terpineol serves as a substrate for biotransformation in tobacco suspension cells, where allylic hydroxylation occurs at specific sites. trans-β-Terpineol can be isolated from the leaves of Euryops arabicus. Terpineol (HY-N7851) exhibits antioxidant and antibacterial activities, and trans-β-terpineol is the bioactive compound responsible for the antibacterial effect in Euryops arabicus[1][2][3][4].

In Vitro

trans-β-Terpineol (10 min ultrasound; 20 min extraction at 60 °C; 3 min desorption at 250 °C) constitutes 5.86% of the essential oil extracted from dried Peganum harmala L. seed powder via HS-SPME and analyzed by GC-MS[3].
