Endothelial cell growth supplement (ECGS) is an extract of bovine pituitary glands containing growth promoting factors for vascular endothelial cells of mammalian origin. ECGS has also been reported to be beneficial as a media supplement for the fusion and growth of hybridoma cells in monoclonal antibody production. Endothelial cell growth supplement is prepared using a modification of a published method.

~3mg/ml (after reconstitution)

Form:
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in sodium chloride, streptomycin sulfate. Reconstitute with 5ml prewarmed sterile balanced salt solution.

Solubility (15mg/ml, 0.85%NaCl):
Red to brown liquid

Biological Activity:
EC50=2-300ug/ml. The proliferative activity of ECGS is tested in culture using fetal bovine heart endothelial (FBHE) cells (ATCC CRL 1395) seeded at low density. After incubation for 4-7 days, the cell number in wells containing 75ug/ml of ECGS increased >5 fold over that of untreated cells.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C. Stable for 6 months after receipt. Reconstitute with balanced salt solution. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
