Potato dextrose agar

Potato dextrose agar (PDA) is a general-purpose fungal culture medium prepared from potato infusion and dextrose. The natural nutrient profile from potato extract supports the growth and sporulation of a wide range of yeasts and molds, while the acidic pH (approximately 3.5 after acidification) selectively inhibits bacterial growth. PDA is widely employed in medical mycology, food microbiology, and environmental monitoring for the enumeration and maintenance of fungal isolates.
