PE-conjugated anti-hamster primary antibodies are immunochemical reagents for detecting target antigens in hamster-derived samples using fluorescence-based methodologies. Produced by immunizing host species such as goat or rabbit with purified hamster immunoglobulins, these antibodies are purified via immunoaffinity chromatography and conjugated to phycoerythrin (PE), a highly fluorescent phycobiliprotein characterized by a high quantum yield and molar extinction coefficient. Upon excitation, the conjugate emits intense orange-red fluorescence, enabling highly sensitive antigen detection without the need for enzymatic signal amplification. Depending on the reagent, antibody specificity may be directed against hamster immunoglobulin heavy and light chains (H+L) or restricted to specific isotypes. Many preparations are pre-adsorbed against serum proteins from other species to minimize cross-reactivity and improve staining specificity.
Applications
PE-conjugated anti-hamster primary antibodies are widely used in fluorescence-based immunoassays requiring sensitive and quantitative antigen detection. In flow cytometry, they enable the analysis of both cell surface and intracellular antigens within heterogeneous cell populations. In immunofluorescence microscopy, they facilitate the visualization and localization of target proteins in cultured cells and tissue sections. Additional applications include fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), multiplex bead-based immunoassays, and ELISpot. Optimal antibody concentrations should be determined empirically for each experimental protocol to achieve the best signal-to-background ratio.
