Description
Recombinant HCMV (strain AD169) Envelope Glycoprotein B is produced by our Mammalian expression system and the target gene encoding Ser25-Pro706 is expressed with a 6His tag at C-terminus.Y155G, I156H, Y157R, Y206H, W240A, L241T, Y242H and RTRR456-459GSAS mutations are introduced to stabilize the trimeric postfusion state of Glycoprotein B and abolish the furin cleavage site, respectively.

Background
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is the most common virus transmitted in utero and is also an important cause of disease in adults. Both the congenital transmission of HCMV and its ability to cause disease in adulthood, particularly in immunosuppressed patients, pose important challenges in clinical practice. Glycoprotein B (gB) is one of several glycoproteins expressed in the viral envelope that mediate viral entry into cells, gB works in concert with the gH/gL complex to facilitate viral entry into human fibroblasts, and with the PC to enter epithelial and endothelial cells. The glycoprotein is highly conserved among herpesviruses and its expression is essential for HCMV replication.
