Transformation

Transformation

Transformation of normal cells into neoplastic cells occurs through a series of genetic and epigenetic alterations, resulting in a cell population capable of proliferating independently of internal and external signals that normally restrict their growth. Traditionally, the soft agar colony formation test was used to monitor cell transformation and anchorage-independent growth, with manual counting of proliferated cells after 3-4 weeks of cell growth.
We offer improved tests over traditional soft agar tests to provide increased throughput and more accurate results. Test times are reduced to about a week, and manual tedious cell counting has been eliminated. We offer agar colony dosages in a variety of formats:
  • A 96-well plate cell transformation assay using standard soft agar, which combines a soft agar medium with a fluorescent dye to eliminate cell count and accelerate results.
  • Cellular transformation test in 96-well plate in soft agar with the possibility of recovering the cells for later tests. This test uses a proprietary soft agar medium that allows transformed cells to be recovered after culture.
  • For even higher throughput, a 384 well plate cell transformation assay using a proprietary medium. Due to the small size of the well, it is not recommended to use this format for the recovery of transformed cells.
