SIBBM 2019 - Frontiers in Molecular Biology

11-13 June 2019 - Opificio Golinelli - Bologna

Nucleic acid immunity:  from cellular mechanisms to new technologies

The 2019 SIBBM "Frontiers in Molecular Biology" Seminar will be held in Bologna, at Opificio Golinelli.

Main topics:

  • Functional diversity of DNA repair mechanisms
  • Nucleic acid sensing: from microbes to eukaryotes
  • Epitranscriptome, RNA editing and new technologies
  • Nucleic acid sensing and immune response in diseases

The 2019 SIBBM Seminar will mainly focus on “Nucleic acid immunity” in a broad sense from bacteria to humans, from basic mechanisms to innovative technologies. Since their start in 2004, the annual SIBBM Seminars have become one of the most successful scientific events in Italy. The meeting topics are at the leading-edge of research in molecular cell biology, genomics and bioinformatics covered by international speakers. To foster active participation, nearly 50%of talks will be selected from submitted abstracts, which can be on any research topic related to Molecular Biology.

Thus, the 2019 SIBBM Seminar offers an exciting opportunity for young researchers and Ph.D. students to share their results and experience. To promote their participation, this year the registration fee is reduced in particular for Ph.D. students.

Prizes: two prestigious Chiara D'Onofrio awards will be assigned in 2019, one to an established scientist early in his/her career and another to a young scientist selected among the selected abstracts for oral communications. In addition, a Francesca Martini prize will be awarded to the best poster presentation while a number of travel grants will be awarded to other best posters also thanks to the generous support of the Company of Biologists.
