Solanum tuberosum Lectin (STA/STL) - Pure

Solanum tuberosum lectin/agglutinin (STA/STL) is a hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein isolated from potato and purified by affinity chromatography. This lectin contains 50% carbohydrates, predominantly arabinose; and consists of two subunits. STA/STL binds oligomers of N-acetylglucosamine and some bacterial cell wall oligosaccharides containing N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylmuramic acid. N-acetyllactosamine is a relatively weak inhibitor of hemagglutination induced by this lectin; though, it does not have a blood group specificity. Solanum tuberosum lectin has been shown to bind two and a half times more to colon cancer cells than normal tissue.

Recommended Usage: Recommended dilutions of 0.5 – 15 μg in 1XPBS. Less than 15 µg/ml will agglutinate human type O erythrocytes. The activity is greater with neuraminidase treated red blood cells.

Storage Instruction: To prevent degradation and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aliquot your product into small, single-use volumes and store them at -20°C
