In vitro
6'-Sialyllactose (0–50 μM, 24 h) inhibits DHT-induced HUVEC proliferation and tube formation by downregulating p-Akt/p-ERK and blocking VEGFR-2 signaling. It also reduces Pseudomonas aeruginosa internalization in human pneumocyte models [1][4].
In vivo
In vivo, supplementing mouse diets with 5% 6'-Sialyllactose for 2 weeks significantly diminishes stressor-induced anxiety-like behavior and maintains the number of DCX-positive cells in the hippocampus [2]. In muscle health studies, oral administration of 6'-SL (100 mg/kg, 12 weeks) increases muscle mass and strength, leading to improved exercise endurance [3]. Furthermore, it effectively ameliorates benign prostatic hyperplasia in mice by suppressing angiogenesis [4]
