Description
Ganglioside GD3 disodium salt is a melanoma-associated antigen commonly targeted in immune therapy for melanomas.
In vitro
Ganglioside GD3 exhibits significantly higher expression in melanomas compared to melanocytes, is solely present during the early developmental stages of the fetal brain, and manifests prominently in activated T lymphocytes as well as in malignant T cell tumors. These patterns of expression suggest that GD3 plays a crucial role in tumor characteristics, including increased proliferation and frequent metastasis[1].
