Griffonia simplicifolia lectin (GSL I) is affinity-purified from a woody climbing shrub native to Africa and consists of two subunits, A and B, forming tetrameric structures with five isolectins. GSL I binds to terminal β-D-galactosyl and terminal N-acetyl-β-D-galactosaminyl residues. The A-rich variant preferentially agglutinates blood group A erythrocytes, indicating specificity for N-acetylgalactosamine residues, while the B-rich variant preferentially agglutinates blood group B cells, demonstrating specificity for β-galactose residues. GSL I exhibits a stronger affinity for blood group B compared to A1. Additionally, it binds various glycoproteins, including laminin, and highlights specific glycosylation patterns in endothelial cells of mouse tissues.

Recommended Usage: Recommended dilutions of 0.5 – 10 μg / ml in 1XPBS pH 7.4. Rabbit or human erythrocytes will agglutinate by 1 – 20 μg / ml of GSLI. 

Storage Instruction: To prevent degradation and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, aliquot your product into small, single-use volumes and store them at -20°C
