Thioglycollate Medium (without Agar)

AbMole Thioglycollate Medium (without Agar) is a medium for sterility tests and the cultivation of microaerophilic and anaerobic organisms.

Composition

dextrose, 5.0 g/L
pancreatic digest of casein, 15.0 g/L
sodium chloride, 2.5 g/L
sodium thioglycolate, 0.5 g/L
yeast extract, 5.0 g/L

Suspend 28.5 g in 1000 ml of distilled water. Bring to the boil and dissolve the medium completely. Distribute into tubes or bottles and sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 25°C and store in a cool dark place preferably below 25°C. Prepare freshly or boil and cool the medium just before use!
