SSC buffer is used in hybridization cocktails containing DNA and RNA probes for the analyiss of unknown sequences and to locate desired genes and gene fragments. The primary function of SSC is to provide high ionic strength to optimize the rate of probe annealing to the target nucleic acid. The Saline-Sodium Citrate Liquid Concentrate 1X working solution can be easily prepared from the 20X liquid concentrate by diluting with distilled water.
