Anakinra (Raleukin) is a cytokine inactivator and interleukin 1 receptor antagonist that can be used to study secondary phagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Etanercept was administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 5 mg/kg, and Anakinra was administered intraperitoneally at a dose of 100 mg/kg once daily for 7 days. The combination of the two significantly improved the survival of borderline mass human islet grafts in immunodeficient mice. [2]
