-20°CHuman eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha has two isoforms, alpha 1 and alpha 2. The alpha 1 isoform gene encodes a subunit of the elongation factor-1 complex which is responsible for the enzymatic delivery of aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome. The alpha 1 isoform is expressed in brain, placenta, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas. The other isoform (alpha 2) is expressed in brain, heart and skeletal muscle. The alpha 1 isoform is identified as an autoantigen in 66% of patients with Felty syndrome. The gene for the alpha 1 isoform has been found to have multiple copies on many chromosomes, some of which, if not all, represent different pseudogenes. The gene for the alpha 2 may be critical in the development of ovarian cancer.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipiation. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Positive Antigen Control (Included):
A0001-50: Non-stimulated A431 cell lysate.
Control cells:
Non-stimulated A431, Jurkat or 3T3/A31 cell lysates
Storage and Stability:
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
