| ELISA Kit Principle | Aviva Systems Biology LRP8 ELISA Kit (Chicken) (OKEH07512) is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay technology. An antibody specific for LRP8 has been pre-coated onto a 96-well plate (12 x 8 Well Strips) and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells, incubated and removed. A biotinylated detector antibody specific for LRP8 is added, incubated and followed by washing. Avidin-Peroxidase Conjugate is then added, incubated and unbound conjugate is washed away. An enzymatic reaction is produced through the addition of TMB substrate which is catalyzed by HRP generating a blue color product that changes yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration read by absorbance at 450 nm is quantitatively proportional to the amount of sample LRP8 captured in well. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Additional Information | Function: Cell surface receptor for Reelin (RELN) and apolipoprotein E (apoE)-containing ligands. Also binds alpha2-macroglobulin. LRP8 participates in transmitting the extracellular Reelin signal to intracellular signaling processes, by binding to DAB1 on its cytoplasmic tail. Reelin acts via both the VLDL receptor (VLDLR) and LRP8 to regulate DAB1 tyrosine phosphorylation and microtubule function in neurons. LRP8 has higher affinity for Reelin than VLDLR. LRP8 is thus a key component of the Reelin pathway which governs neuronal layering of the forebrain during embryonic brain development. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Description of Target | Cell surface receptor for Reelin (RELN) and apolipoprotein E (apoE)-containing ligands. Also binds alpha2-macroglobulin. Not required for endocytic uptake of SEPP1 in the kidney which is mediated by LRP2 (By similarity). |
