Streptococcus pneumoniae are Gram positive, lancet shaped cocci (elongated cocci with a slightly pointed outer curvature). They are a major human pathogen that cause lung infections that often develop as secondary infections into other respiratory disorders such as bronchial pneumonia. This antibody reacts with types 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 14, 18, 19 and 23.
